Our Story
Founded in 2018, Sundling Road is a mostly one-person shop based in McFarland, Wisconsin, with occasional help from my wife and two sons. I create custom lake map art, including my original backlit lake maps, along with engraved baseball-themed gifts, pet-themed items, and other unique handmade pieces.

Each item is designed and crafted by hand using a mix of modern tools and traditional craftsmanship. More recently, we have added a number of pet-themed items curated, designed, and made by my son Noah. You will see these items marked as Sundling Road by Noah.

The name Sundling Road honors my great-grandfather Axel, who settled on Sundling Rd. in Winter, Wisconsin, where his 100+ year-old hand-built cabin still stands and where we still visit as often as we can. With every item I make, I aim to carry forward that legacy by blending heritage, creativity, and personal meaning into every order.

Original Lake Map Designs
Sundling Road has been creating custom lake maps since 2018, serving clients across the United States and around the world. Over the years, I have built a growing collection of original lake map designs, with thousands of lakes currently available and thousands more being added to the website as I have time.

Unlike many map products that rely on purchased templates or third-party design files, every Sundling Road lake map is based on my own designs. I research the lake data, create the layouts, refine the details, and develop each design with the goal of creating a piece that looks great on the wall, not just on a screen.

My approach to lake map design is intentionally simple. I believe the shape, depth, and natural character of a lake should be the focus, without being buried under unnecessary labels or clutter. Each design is refined to highlight the beauty of the lake itself, creating a clean, timeless piece that feels personal without feeling overly busy.

Even as the lake map collection continues to grow, the focus remains the same: original designs, handmade products, and lake art that helps people celebrate the places that matter most to them. Every map is made by me, with occasional help from my sons, ensuring that each piece receives the same care and attention that has defined Sundling Road from the beginning.

Giving Back to the Community
Supporting our local community and causes is very important to us. To help, we donate 25% of Lake Waubesa item sales to the Lake Waubesa Conservation Association. This association is dedicated to promoting the preservation, protection, and enhancement of the Lake Waubesa ecosystem for all to enjoy.
 
We also donate 20% of the sale of any MYBO item to MYBO, the McFarland Youth Baseball Organization. This nonprofit organizes and advances youth baseball for the McFarland community. I am happy to support MYBO through donations and by helping coach.
