The Great Lakes are the largest group of freshwater lakes on earth, and now they can hang on a wall or sit on a shelf in your home as this handcrafted backlit map.

This piece makes a great gift for anyone who appreciates the scale, beauty, and significance of these iconic lakes. Whether for your own home or for someone with a connection to the region, it is designed to be both meaningful and display-worthy.

The Great Lakes backlit map is available in various sizes and is framed with locally sourced, milled, and kiln-dried 1" rough-cut walnut. Each map is cut and engraved using a laser cutter, then carefully finished by hand. Because every map is handmade and natural wood grain varies, each piece will have slight differences that make it unique.

The LED backlight is powered by a USB cable and includes a remote that lets you choose the color of the backlighting. You can also set it to fade between colors or flash, though I find a soft white or slight blue gives the lakes the best effect.

The USB cable is approximately 12" long and can be plugged into any USB charging outlet. Depending on the distance to your outlet, you may want to use a USB extension cable.

Each piece is made by me at Sundling Road, with occasional help from my son Noah. We are a small business located in McFarland, Wisconsin, and every item is made with care rather than mass produced.
